General Questions
-
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. There is no pressure to share everything at once—we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a space where you feel welcomed, heard, and supported from the very beginning.
-
Not at all. Many people begin therapy because something simply feels "off," even if they can't quite put it into words. You don't need to be in crisis or have everything figured out before reaching out. Therapy can be a place to explore uncertainty, process change, build resilience, and better understand yourself.
-
If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stuck, navigating a life transition, or simply wanting a space to better understand yourself, therapy may be a helpful next step. The best way to find out is through an initial consultation, where we can discuss your goals and determine whether working together feels like the right fit.
-
Just yourself. You don't need to prepare anything or worry about having the "right" words. If it helps, you may want to think about what has been weighing on you recently or what you hope might be different after therapy, but there's no expectation to come with all the answers.
-
Every person is unique, so I tailor therapy to meet your individual needs. My work is grounded in person-centered, relational, and humanistic, while integrating evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, body-based therapies, Brainspotting, and EMDR.
-
Therapy is never one-size-fits-all. Together we'll identify your goals, explore your experiences, and develop an approach that fits who you are. As your needs change, our work can evolve alongside you.
-
That's completely okay—and more common than you might think. Sometimes the first step is simply creating space to slow down and notice what's been feeling difficult. We'll work together to uncover patterns, clarify your goals, and discover where healing can begin.
-
Progress looks different for everyone. For some people, it may mean feeling less anxious. For others, it might be setting healthier boundaries, improving relationships, or responding differently to life's challenges. We'll regularly check in about your goals and celebrate growth along the way.
-
Yes. Your privacy is very important. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential except in a few situations required by law, such as concerns about immediate safety, suspected abuse or neglect, or court orders. I'll explain these limits during our first appointment so you always know what to expect.
-
Intensives are longer sessions that can be helpful during EMDR or if you feel like need more time to deeply process or if your schedule is better suited to a meeting for longer sessions less frequently. Unfortunately, intensives are not covered by insurance.
-
Most therapy sessions are approximately 55 minutes, allowing enough time to explore your concerns while maintaining consistency from week to week.
Please reach out if you are interested in a 90 minute or 2 hour session. Those sessions are not covered by insurance, but can very extremely valuable.
-
Many clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and establish support. As progress is made, some choose to transition to biweekly or monthly appointments. We'll decide together what schedule best supports your goals.
-
Yes. Secure telehealth appointments are available for clients who prefer the convenience of meeting from home or who are unable to attend in person. Virtual therapy provides the same thoughtful, collaborative care as office visits.
-
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice whenever possible. This allows the appointment time to be offered to another client. Please refer to your intake paperwork for the complete cancellation policy.
-
If cost is a concern, please don't hesitate to reach out. Limited reduced-fee appointments may be available depending on current availability. We'll discuss options together during your consultation.

-
The easiest way to begin is by scheduling a consultation. During this conversation, we'll discuss what you're looking for, answer any questions you have, and determine whether working together feels like the right fit. If it does, we'll schedule your first appointment and begin building a path forward together.
-
Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if it's your first time. Many people worry about saying the wrong thing or wonder if their struggles are "serious enough." Please know there is no perfect way to begin. Therapy is simply a conversation—a space where every part of your story is welcomed with curiosity, compassion, and respect. We'll move at a pace that feels right for you.
